About Us
1
Loving God
Wholeheartedly
We are a Full Gospel, Bible-teaching church focused on the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus. Our doors are open to all who desire to grow in their faith, from the spiritually young to the seasoned saint. God has revealed Himself to us through His Word, so our services are centered on the teaching of the Bible. If you don’t know Jesus, we welcome you to our church family and pray you find that Salvation is a gift that we receive through faith in Christ – it is not earned or deserved. We also pray that you will enter into a life-changing, personal relationship with Him. If you do know Him, we pray that you will be encouraged, that your relationship with Him is strengthened and that you become part of a church that feels like home.

Loving People
Unconditionally
Our roots run deep in the city of Aliquippa. Our church first began in the late 1930's when Yugoslavian immigrant, Stanley Zarkovich felt called to preach to the Serbian-speaking people in the streets of Logstown, a community on the outskirts of the city. As more and more people began to put their faith in Jesus Christ, there became a need for a church building. A small storefront on Baker St. became their worship center, and in 1944 that community of believers officially became "The Yugoslavian Christian Assembly, Church of God in Jesus Christ of Aliquippa, PA" - what a name! Our fellowship continued to grow in love for Christ and one another. In the early 60's, a neighborhood called the Wildwood Housing Plan was set to be built on a piece of land near what was once known as the Johnson Street School. God had better plans for it though! The property was purchased by our church's leadership, and is where our worship center has its home to this day. After the passing of Stanley Zarkovich, Nick Radovich was appointed as senior pastor, and construction of the new church building soon began. In 1968 the new church was completed. With the Jesus movement of the 1970's, Wildwood Chapel experienced an influx of young new believers who were hungry for the things of God. To accommodate the growing congregation, a new sanctuary was added. This is where we now worship every Sunday, and the Truth that those believers came to know lives on: Jesus truly changes lives!

Our Beliefs
The Bible
. We believe and accept the Bible as the infallible Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the only perfect order of our faith and manner of living to which nothing can be added or taken away; which is the power of God unto salvation to believers. We believe the majority text reflects as nearly as possible the original divinely inspired Word of God.
The One True God
. The Scriptures teach a distinction of Persons in the Being of God, which are expressed in terms of relationship: Father to Son to Holy Spirit. Like many theological truths, this distinction known as the Trinity is not explicitly explained and, therefore, cannot be described in its incomprehensible manner. Being evident, therefore, the Persons constituting the essence of God have identity peculiar to each. It is necessary to unite the combined revelation of each to constitute and confirm the revelation of the Godhead. Since all of the attributes of deity are recognized in the Trinity of God, equal honor is given to each Person of the Godhead so that one is not superior to another but is one in unity. The expression of God as to relationship and person and cooperation peculiar to the revelation of His glory is not to be divided as to make one all-encompassing to the exclusion of the other.
The Divinity of Jesus Christ
. We believe that the Son of God is the Word made flesh who assumed the human body through the virgin, Mary, and so is the true God and the true man – two natures in one person. Therefore, He is the only true savior who in reality suffered death for both the original sin of Adam and for all of humanity’s sins.
The Fall and Redemption of Man
. Man was created good and upright. For God said, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.” But man, by his own volition, sinned against God. His only hope of redemption is through the blood of Christ.
The Salvation of Man
. Through the preaching of repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, man is saved by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit and is made just by grace through faith. The believer becomes an heir of God according to the hope of eternal life. The evidence of this transaction are two-fold: inwardly by a direct witness of our spirit with the Holy Spirit, and outwardly by a life of righteousness and holiness.
Holy Spirit Baptism
. All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Spirit according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their use in the work of the ministry. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the New Birth. With the baptism in the Holy Spirit comes such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a deepened reverence for God, an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work, and a more active love for Christ, for the Word, and the lost. The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. Speaking in tongues, in this instance, is the same in essence as the gift of tongues but is different in purpose and use.
Sanctification of Believers
. The Scriptures teach a life of holiness and separation from the world. By the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, the believer must obey the command, “Be holy, for I am holy.” To be entirely sanctified is the will of God for all believers. However, sanctification is not immediately conferred but is a continual process as the believer walks in obedience to God’s word.
The Church
. The church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit. Its government originates in the Divine Word of God, and its purpose is to fulfill the Word of God. Each individual believer is an important part of the church, which God calls “the general assembly and the church of the firstborn.”
Water Baptism
. By a symbolic burial, by being totally immersed, the believer identifies with the death and resurrection of the Lord. It associates the believer with the will of God and is an outward and public sign of their intention to follow Christ. The mode is by the authority of Jesus and is done in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Lord's Supper (Communion)
. A memorial meal of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine is to be observed to keep fresh the memory of His sacrifice and to symbolize our sharing of the Divine nature. This observance is to perpetuate until Jesus returns.
Healing
. We believe that Jesus Christ Himself bore all our infirmities, and therefore, we obey the following commandment: “Is any sick among you? Let them call for the elders of the church, and let the elders pray over them, anointing with oil in the name of the Lord and the power of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise them up, and if they have committed any sins they shall be forgiven” (James 5:14). By the sovereign will of God, man may be the object of divine favor in receiving healing for the body. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the Atonement and is the privilege of all believers.
The Blessed Hope
. The resurrection of those who died in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall occur before the Second Coming of Christ and is the imminent and blessed hope of all believers. Following the rapture of the church and the seven-year tribulation, Christ will come a second time and initiate His millennial reign on earth.
The Resurrection
. We believe there shall be a bodily resurrection of all the dead, just and unjust. The righteous, those who are in Christ, enter into eternal life. However, the unjust shall go away into everlasting punishment. The Scriptures teach a literal Hell where Satan, his fallen angels, the beast and false prophet, and all those who are not found in the Lamb’s Book of Life shall be confined. This place is described as the “second death” and is a place of eternal punishment.
